Policy on AI
At Plato For The Masses, it is always my aim to be as transparent as I can with readers. A major concern with internet content today is whether or not what we encounter is created by a human or a generative AI model. You’ve probably already encountered AI generated video shorts and meme images on social media. But AI influence goes runs deeper. Just as teachers like myself have discovered students using generative AI to write essays for them, so professional writers, scholars, and journalists occasionally have AI supplement their own writing. It could even be happening here on Substack.
So I want to set the record straight: my essays are 100% written by me. I do not use generative AI tools at any stage of my writing process, not even for brainstorming or proofreading. My only use of AI is to occasionally produce copyright-free images for posts, and when I include those images, I always caption them with a note declaring them AI generated.
In the coming years, trust and integrity with what is genuine human content will become paramount. You can be confident that at Plato For The Masses, the essays written by me or guest writers will be fully human in both the ideas and the writing. Please help us keep that high standard in the comments sections on essays. Thank you!
